Coleslaw – American cabbage salad

- Comments Off on Coleslaw – American cabbage salad -

In the US it is a must to have coleslaw coming with your burger & fries order since it is well balancing the heavier dishes with its acidity, freshness and colorful look. On top of all, it is an excellent source of vitamins. Coleslaw is an exciting side dish or salad. The choice of the cabbage depends on our taste. I recommend to make it from two different types and colors, from red and white. We can as well add some savoy cabbage too if we like.

Blue cheese dip

I have also tried this dip first time in the US. I am not so keen on blue cheese itself; however, I like this dip because the cream cheese we add nicely smoothens the intensity and bitterness of the blue cheese. It is served with spicy chicken wings, French fries or with steak potatoes in the US. They also serve it with celery and carrot sticks as finger food or appetizer. That is also my recommendation this time.

Hash brown with a twist

- Comments Off on Hash brown with a twist -

I got to love hash brown when I was in the USA. They serve it for breakfast with eggs and bacon and sausage with some toast. Hash brown is basically grinded raw potatoes, what they usually bake in the oven. – But you can make it in a pot as well on the cooker. They bake it nice golden brown and cut it up for the serving. They normally season it with salt and pepper only. I have made it this time with a twist. I decided to add eggs and bacon to the potatoes and serve it together. This is how I made our Sunday breakfast and we had not even a toast with it. It was filling alone.
